Mogens Lykketoft was elected President of the United Nations General Assembly’s 70th session on 15 June 2015. At the time of his election, he was the Speaker (President) of the Danish Parliament, a position he has held since 2011. He has also served as Danish Minister of Foreign Affairs, Finance, and Taxation in his long political career.
