Behind the Scenes - What do Secretary Generals do?

A Talk by Philippe Lefevre , Maryam Nsaif , Charis Yeap and Sharon Low

About this Talk

In this panel for World MUN Day, Scheduled for the 13th of November 2021, we will be taking a step back from the immediate organising of MUNs and seek to explore MUNs from those who have been right in the middle of dozens of conferences, Secretary Generals. Taken from the title of the Chief organiser, Secretary, and General of the UN, these positions are often important for MUN, but little time is dedicated to reflecting on experiences and best practices worldwide. Join us as we talk in a panel of former Presidents and Sec Gens of MUNs and MUN Societies and try to create a nucleus of experience that we can draw from for years to come.

Philippe Lefevre is Director of World MUN Day and has also been Secretary General of IsarMUN 2019 and MUNSC Salient 2019.

Charis Yeap Khai Leang is a PhD Student and Young professional in economics with a long experience of MUN culminating with her mandate as Secretary General of London International MUN in 2019, one of the largest University conferences in Europe.

Sharon Low is a student at the University of Toronto and a Canadian MUNer with experience at Best Delegate and as President and Secretar General of Western MUN in Canada.

Maryam Nsaif is an Energy Consultant and active MUNer and Rotoractor with a wide range of youth related experiences in the International Youth Federation, and was Secretary General of Rotaract MUN 2020, and founder and Secretary General of NDU MUN in Lebanon.
